O dj e produtor grego Chris Markou – membro da banda Mystery Train, que teve a faixa “Song of The Dead” lançada em nossa coletânea P.M. Vol. IV – nos mandou esse álbum em 2008, demoramos um tempo a ouví-lo…

Mas quando o fizemos… O título “Ainda Viajando” descreve, de todas formas possíveis, as sensações… Sonhos, filmes, abstrações, arte visual, poesia, paranóia, delírio e um encontro de timbres orgânicos com batidas hip/trip-hop e efeitos psicodélicos.

Foi desde então um dos nossos itens recebidos que mais foi crescendo na memória.  Não há muito o que dizer, está tudo escrito em detalhes pelo próprio autor no release abaixo:

RELEASE DO ARTISTA:

“Still travelling é o segundo lançamento independente/virtual do Artcrime a.k.a Circo Inverso.  As gravações foram feitas de 2006 até meados de 2007.

Na época, houve uma grande influência das sonoridades da [gravadora] Ninja Tune e de [a cidade britânica de] Bristol, além de artistas como DJ Shadow.  Por isso o produto final é um álbum de hip-hop/ trip-hop abstrato, feito de samples, edições, programação de bateria com scratches e gravações instrumentais.

Seguem abaixo as explicações sobre títulos de algumas músicas:

1. ‘The Present’: usou um sample de um filme chamado “Broken Flowers”.  Jim Jarmusch é o diretor. Todo seu estilo é uma forte influência.
*Há um segundo sample de um filme de Jarmusch, “Ghost Dog”, na faixa: ‘Way Of The Samurai’.
2. ‘Trip To Lourmarin Vaucluse’: É o lugar onde [o escritor Prêmio Nobel] Albert Camus foi enterrado.  Ele é também um grande e influente nome.
3. ‘Teatro Di Narrazione’: é uma ode a Dario Fo (o cara que inventou o Teatro de Narrativa).
4. ‘Distraction’ e ‘Untuned Sunset’: são ambas homenagens ao abstrato como um forma de expressão.  Arte abstrata em geral, não apenas música.

5. ‘Still Travelling’: representa o modo como Chris Markou vive.  Ele nunca morou em um lugar por mais de 4 anos desde que nasceu.  Também representa uma coisa mais mental: Viajar significa Aprender.

Por último, é preciso dizer que esse é um álbum realmente pessoal.  Expondo às pessoas várias coisas contecendo na mente do artista, mas de um modo que ele possa também esconder parte dos pensamentos.”

Greek dj and producer Chris Markou – a member of Mystery Train band, which had the “Song of The Dead” track released at our P.M. Vol. IV compilation – has sent us this album in 2008, then we took sometime to listen it…

But When we did it… The “Still Travelling” title describes, in all possible ways, such sensations… Dreams, movies, abstractions, visual arts, poetry, paranoia, delirium and a meeting of organic timbres, hip/trip-hop beats and psychedelic effects.

Since then it has been one of our received items notable for its crescendo through our minds.  There’s not much to say, its all written in details by its own author in the release below:

ARTIST RELEASE

Still travelling is the second indie/net release of Artcrime a.k.a Circo Inverso.  The recordings were made from 2006 till the mid of 2007.

There were heavy influences by early Ninja Tune & Bristol sound and artists such as DJ Shadow at that time.  So the final product is an abstract hip hop/trip hop album:  made of samples, chops, drum programming along scratches and instrumental recordings.

There go below explanations on the titles of some songs:

1. ‘The Present’: used a sample from a movie called “Broken Flowers”.  Jim Jarmusch is the director.  His whole style is a heavy influence.
*There’s a second sample of a Jarmusch film, “Ghostdog”, at the track: ‘Way Of The Samurai’.
2. ‘Trip To Lourmarin Vaucluse’: it’s the place where writer Albert Camus was buried.  He is also a great influential artist.
3. ‘Teatro Di Narrazione’: is an ode to Dario Fo (the guy who invented his own style of  theatre).
4. ‘Distraction’ and ‘Untuned Sunset’: are both odes to the abstract as a way of expression.  Abstract art in general, not only music.
5. ‘Still Travelling’: represents the way Chris lives.  He’ve never lived in a place for more than 4 years since the time he was born.  It also represents a more mental thing: Travelling means Learning.

At last it needs to be said this is a really personal album.  Showing out to people several things going on the artis’s mind but in a way that he can also hide part of his thoughts.
