Sobre/About
O SELO

THE LABEL
Psicotropicodelia is the Brazilian web label founded and run by producers Harlem Pinheiro and Evando Iwaszko. They notably enjoy a very close and fruitful relationship with multimedia artist and designer Flavio Lazarino, who has enriched and illustrated their work from an early stage. All three have been keen to push their own boundaries with every release and are constantly striving to put out high quality free and copyleft music from artists close to home but conversely have always strived to find and promote new and exciting music from all over the globe via the medium of the net.
With that strong focus on diversity the label shows timelessness, variety, impact and integration with any other artistic and multimedia manifestations that come across its path.
SHORT BIO
The label emerged from a simple electronic music and soundtracks blog, http://psicotropicodelia.blogspot.com, this then grew to include various online presences on multimedia and networking sites; LastFm, MySpace, OnVibes to mention but a few. These social networking and instant feedback aspects of a modern web label have been instrumental in Psicotropicodelia’s success and one of reasons for its rapid spread.
Over a period of a few months in 2007 three showcase albums were released, Psicotropicodelia Music Volumes 1 and 2, and also the labels first experience with independent cinema, the soundtrack to “Era dos Mortos” (Era Of The Dead) a 40 minute typically blood splattered zombie movie. The volumes featured tracks from some of the most current electronic music genres; Breakcore, IDM, Dubstep, Electrocore, Chiptune and so on. A deliberate effort was made by the label to dedicate at least two thirds of both volumes content to the Brazilian e-music scene.
Since the three initial releases the label’s output has been on a much more varied range of formats. EPs and mini-albums, mixtapes, collaborative remixes and the eagerly awaited Volume 3 compilation. This volume took a more conceptual route than the previous releases and was divided into two distinct sections each with its own vibe. The Psicotropic section featured the extreme, the heavy and the radically experimental, and in contrast the Sonicodelic section was much more atmospheric, cinematic and ‘soundtrackier’.
Much more recently there has been a clear signal that the label is reaching an ever more considerable worldwide audience with its surpassing of the 90,000 downloads mark on the Internet Archive.
PSICOTROPICODELIA NOW
The label has many exciting plans and projects in the pipeline for 2010 and 2011. They will be exploring new formats and channels alongside pushing the same experimental ethos that has been the heart of the label from the start. Plans include increased instant interactivity between artists, fans and the team at the label.
Thusly Psicotropicodelia has tried tirelessly to be at the forefront of technology. We can expect to see the label growing and changing to encompass the new ideas, concepts, technologies and visions the label and its artists have.
These goals and ideals are reflected in the diverse roster the label continually works towards promoting, signing, finding and exposing to a wider audience. Their pure honest pursuit of true genuine, intelligent talent and challenging music is the labels ultimate goal and strongest asset.
